Feasibility Study for Monitoring Control Surveillance Coordination Centre (MCSCC)

Project Overview:
NRC conducted a feasibility study to determine the viability of establishing a Monitoring Control Surveillance Coordination Centre (MCSCC) in Namibia. This project aimed to assess the potential for enhancing fisheries management and preventing IUU fishing through coordinated surveillance and monitoring efforts.

Key Objectives:

  • Evaluate the technical and financial feasibility of establishing the MCSCC.
  • Identify key stakeholders and potential partnerships.
  • Propose strategies for effective implementation of the centre.

Project Impact:
The feasibility study provided a roadmap for the establishment of the MCSCC, which will strengthen Namibia’s capacity to monitor its fisheries resources and combat illegal activities. The centre will also enhance the sustainability of the marine environment by improving oversight and coordination among stakeholders.
